Thanks for the rec! I know that this is the first "Other One" that we have, but it is the peculiar "Coming around in a circle" lyric I was looking for. This one does not have it.. The "Other One" played on 10/22/67 is a barn burner though!

This IS the Other One where Weir mentions the water balloon attack on the cop however, so good call!

I expect that this question requires the research of a light into ashes type of obsessive/compulsive!

I just love that lyrical twist!

SkyDawg – I’m pretty sure that the ‘circle’ part is sung on 10/22, although it doesn’t come through very strong. There is a lot going on as everyone sings parts of the chorus, alternating with Bob, but the circle part is there to my ears . . . I checked out a number of versions and unless my ears faulty (and my imagination gone wild) it seems like this is how they did it in the early versions, not sure when they dropped it.

I've never paid attention to this issue, actually...

2/3/68 was the first Other One with the 'new' lyrics, though.

The interview you quoted actually comes from a radio show with Lesh & Weir on the Hundred Year Hall release, the whole thing's worth reading; I had a post about it a while ago.

The kind of thing I'd examine is, how many Other Ones have just one verse? Which, of course, would require weeks of intensive research....

Oh yeah--I've been over the new vs old verse biz a great deal, but this "doesn't have...'circle'...post" is what got me...think it's just a mistake.

Thanks.
